Medical Internship

Project Overview

Diriya Sahana Non-Profit Organization offers high school and undergraduate students a unique opportunity to participate in healthcare internships abroad. These internships are hosted in various regions across Sri Lanka, providing crucial medical care to underserved areas. Participants gain valuable experience by shadowing physicians, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals in busy, international hospital settings. This hands-on exposure allows interns to explore diverse medical specialties and contribute to the well-being of communities in need. Through these programs, students not only enhance their medical knowledge but also engage in meaningful service, making a tangible impact on global healthcare.

Location

Karapitiya Hospital is located in Galle, a city on Sri Lanka's southwest coast renowned for its historic charm. Galle is famous for the Galle Fort, a fortified old city established by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century. The fort's stone sea walls, later expanded by the Dutch, encircle car-free streets showcasing a blend of Portuguese, Dutch, and British architecture. Key landmarks include the 18th-century Dutch Reformed Church and the Galle Lighthouse, positioned at the fort's southeast tip, offering stunning views and historical significance.

Accommodation

We will arrange your stay at the Volunteer Center in Ginthota, Galle. You will be accommodated in a twin-sharing room with en-suite bathrooms. The center is a relaxing and tranquil place, perfect for your holiday in Sri Lanka. Located just a 5-minute walk from the beach, it offers a serene environment to unwind and enjoy the coastal beauty.

Kindly note that no other person can be brought or accommodated in the accommodation provided by us and this process is done for your safety.

Foods

During the five weekdays, we provide all three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, on Saturday and Sunday, meals are not included. You are welcome to stay in your accommodation over the weekend and explore local dining options or enjoy your free time as you wish.

Airport Pick up

If you are coming to Sri Lanka, please arrive at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport. A representative from our company will be waiting for you at the arrivals terminal until your arrival. Once you've landed, our staff will ensure you are safely and comfortably escorted to your project accommodation at no additional cost to you. This service is provided to make your arrival as smooth and stress-free as possible.

The airport drop-off is not included in this amount. You will need to pay separately if you require this service from us.
