Teach English

Program Overview

Volunteers will have opportunities to teach various subjects to locals, contributing to our ongoing projects by providing courses and resources for poor children in developing areas. You will be teaching young children, all under 18, and exchanging cultural beliefs. We focus on preschool children, teaching basic English, interactive learning practices, and essential life skills. Despite varying ages, all students learn together in the same class. Your involvement will make a lasting impact, helping these children build a brighter future.

Program Location

We have prepared this program in Rabukkana village (Kegalle District), a small village near the central mountains of Sri Lanka. Nestled in beautiful scenery with a temperate climate, Rabukkana is home to a community of warm, rural people. The village is also famous for producing the most delicious bananas in the region. Our program aims to support this vibrant community by focusing on education and development. Volunteers will engage with local children, teaching various subjects and sharing cultural experiences. By contributing to our ongoing projects, you’ll help empower this community, ensuring a brighter future for the children of Rabukkana.

Time of the Program

This teaching time mostly starts after school, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm each weekday, as the children attend class after school. The program runs from Monday to Friday, ending after lunch on Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are your days off, allowing you to travel around Sri Lanka or simply relax at your accommodation. This schedule provides a balance between meaningful volunteer work and personal time to explore the beautiful surroundings.

Foods

All five weekdays, you will receive three meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, on Saturday and Sunday, meals are not provided, though you are welcome to stay in your accommodation during the weekend. This arrangement allows you the flexibility to explore local cuisine or dine out while enjoying your days off. Whether you choose to travel or relax, your stay will be comfortable and well-balanced with opportunities to immerse yourself in the local culture.

Accommodation

During your stay, you'll sleep in the Volunteer House, which features single beds for a comfortable rest. The accommodation includes access to the Shiring Kitchen for meal preparation and clean bathrooms for your convenience. Located just 2 minutes from the beach, you can enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery during your downtime. This setup ensures a comfortable and practical living arrangement while you contribute to our program, allowing you to fully enjoy both your volunteer experience and leisure time.

Airport Pick up

If you are coming to Sri Lanka, please fly into Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport. A representative from our company will be waiting for you at the arrivals terminal to greet you. Upon arrival, our staff will escort you safely and comfortably to your project accommodation at no extra cost. Please note that airport drop-off is not included in the program fee; if you require this service, it will be an additional expense. We look forward to welcoming you and ensuring a smooth start to your volunteer experience.
